Barry bought had bought a new diary to fill with pain he carried into 8th grade. He bought another during Easter which he carried into 9th.
He began to notice the ‘cool’ boys, the ones he wished he were. He would spend time in his bedroom, imagining being one of them.
As 9th grade ended, his parents gave him the good news.
They were moving from Uglytown, (as they called it) to a wonderful place one thousand miles away.
They described the brand new house they would live in, the jobs they would have, and the great school he would attend.
Barry saw it as rebirth.
