Iowa State Fair

The U.S.state of Iowa is a state with many farms, It is one of the leading food-producing states. Every August people enjoy the Iowa State Fair.

It was first held in 1854 in Des Moines and has become the state’s largest event. Its primary purpose is to celebrate Iowa’s livelihood – farming. You can enjoy livestock shows and see cattle, sheep, hogs, horses, and chickens. Farmers find this a convenient way to compare notes with each other once a year.

Everyone who comes enjoys the shows, skill competitions, dancing, as well as the rides all around the fairgrounds, It also features the state’s largest art show with painting, sculpture, and photography.

The Iowa State Fair was nicely portrayed in the musical “State Fair” by Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1945.
