The company needed to cut staff. The Board went into a long debate over criteria and position, on and on. I said, “Just find which persons spend the most time on the phone and get rid of them.”

To these people, that idea was to be slapped away. This is why, obviously, the company needed to downsize; poor management.

Simply put, all one has to do is get a pair of eyes into the  main office and survey the people. Have a list of their names and do a check as to how many people are on the phone at a given time.

Now there is a difference between the business call and the personal. You can pick up the clues if you do even a simple study.  Business calls produce serious expressions, are short, and their is a clear distance between the person before you and their relationship to the one on the phone.

Personal calls are reflected in the posture, the expression. You don’t need to be psychic.

After doing your first survey, return an hour later.

Persons who were ‘caught’ having a personal call before and having one now, can be dispensed with.

There are many people who spend hours yapping on a phone.  They can not comprehend that they are paid for their time between this hour and that one. This is called Poor Business Skill.  The inability to make a divide between the working and personal life.

This is a person who can be dispensed with, for the amount of work they actually produce is so much less than what they are paid for.
