Evan was almost caught drinking at his desk by Miss Nina Sanders. He began to flirt with her, invited her for drinks after work.
He spoke to her as if he were dazzled and falling in love. As she was young and trusted him, he knew he had an easy mark.
She wasn’t his only dupe. He’d bought some little gifts for others who might catch him.
With his wife at the top, all he had to do was play charming and he should get over.
Then he thought that maybe he could go beyond the friendly face and maybe reignite the old flame with Maura.
It was not something to rush into. Maura would be suspicious. He’d keep himself just on the fringe, be around at useful moments, but avoid the love looks and sweet words.
