Importance and Advantages of Off-Grid Solar Inverter

The sun’s power is a well-known source of renewable energy these days because more people are becoming conscious about the environment. Solar energy is unlimited and is used to generate electricity using solar panels. When you switch to solar power, you have to choose between a grid-tied or off-grid solar system. A grid-tied inverter converts the direct current voltage from the solar array into alternating current that can be used right away or exported to the utility grid. In an off-grid solar power system, the solar panels are used to charge the battery bank. Under this system, the inverter charger can charge the batteries by using the AC power from the grid when there is no sunlight. The difference between the two is that in the case of an on-grid system, the inverter must be connected to the grid to generate power. These inverters send excess power back to the grid when there is an overproduction of power. On the other hand, the off-grid solar inverter allows you to store the power in batteries when the power grid goes down.

Advantages of going for an off-grid solar inverter are-

1. Always ready for power cuts

Off-grid solar energy systems and inverters are better in case of a power outage because these systems store energy and are always ready to provide power when there is a potential disaster or power cut.

2. Reduced electricity cost

Off-grid inverters and systems are independent of electricity retailers. You need not pay anything for electricity costs. You also become energy-sufficient with these off-grid inverters which in itself is a good feeling. Though the initial cost of installation is high, you will be able to save money in the long run.

3. Easy to install

Compared to the traditional grid power that requires power lines, poles, and a complete infrastructure for installation, off-grid power systems are easier to install. They are also cheaper than extending power lines in certain remote areas.

4. Easy alternative for rural areas

In rural and remote areas, the infrastructure is not usually good, so, connecting to the main electrical grid is challenging and costly. Off-grid solar energy systems offset this significant role and make people’s lives in the rural area easier.

5. Keeps environment clean and green

This renewable source of energy minimizes carbon footprints, which helps to keep the environment clean. This is the main reason why people are shifting to solar energy. Burning fossil fuels to produce energy is dangerous and causes global warming which is another serious environmental issue.

You can find two types of off-grid inverters in the market now. One is the off-grid modified sine wave inverter that is best for simple systems, is inexpensive, and good for incandescent lights, motors, and older TVs. Another one is off-grid pure sine wave inverter which is preferred for larger solar systems, is mandatory for grid-tied systems, and is necessary for sensitive electronics. You can choose the best off-grid solar inverter according to your requirements and stop worrying about the initial investment because it will be worth it.
