During her court arraignment, Ghislaine Maxwell requested bail, but it was denied. She is trying very hard to get out of her situation because she has a lot of money, power and prestige.

It does sound like she was hiding out in the mansion until she can make a secret getaway, similar to what Scott Peterson did, when he bleached his hair blond, and drove to the Mexican border via San Diego with a suitcase filled with money. They caught him at the US-Mexico border.
Her arraignment is by video call.
It sounds like she is being protected. The court date is on July 12, 2021, in which people are hoping she will expose many names.
