The Bluebell Wood

This is a typical example of the type of art I was doing for years and years. It is clearly a woodland landscape it was painted in oil paint on canvas. This is the art my parents taught me to do from childhood. They both painted in oils on canvas and mainly landscapes.

This painting was painted with a paint brush and a pallet knife. In 2006 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and I can no longer paint this style of painting because the illness has made it to painful to control a brush or pallet knife, but I still want to paint. So it set me on a journey to find a method of painting without using a brush or even a pallet knife. If you look at my work you can see where it has taken me. So far it has taken me to using a water pistol, kitchen roll and pieces of card. It has been a lot of fun so far and I am sure other changes will evolve. Lots of people have said to me over the years “I wish I could paint”. My answer to them has always been ” If you want to paint you will paint”.
