Our Wounds

She loved me once

I loved her then

Now times are different

With years gone in between

She was with her life and people

Likewise with me

Gone were the winds,

Trees,flowers,energy

Of our ages

Being older is a bit different

We both sound casual

On things we used to wonder

We cough like adults

And shrug like them

We have kids

Of that age prancing around

We watch carefully

Lest they stumble and fall

And bandages must be at hand

We forget our wounds

With an irritable scratch or two.

You can laugh heartily here by reading these books.
