“Love” Poems For Kathy Number Twenty-Eight

THE TIME HAS NOW BECOME TIME LOST

The time has now become time lost,

time as an empty ring,

and you who have faded like a shadow

during May’s ironic brightening,

you who have all my heart, and everywhere

begin to call the tune,

from wild unhappiness to worshipping your hair,

how can I not be bitter, angry, reckless,

curl my lip and sneer

when you with your whole world cock a leg

at everything sincere?

All evening I have mourned, and, saddening

dead with a massive loss,

counted the world mere dross.
