The water tower in Lozenets district – one of the emblems of old Sofia.
Years ago, this tower really worked…
At the moment, the tower looks really like a story. It is now ivy-covered.
Inside, like in any tower, this one has meandering, spiral-shaped, solid stone stairs that lead to several intermediate sites.
Years ago, I think from 2006 to 2010, it hosted art exhibitions, but something happened and more than 10 years ago it was locked…
That is truly unique. What a find.
There are 2 more water towers in the city, but this one is the most interesting 🙂
All I can say is Wow! Kind of weird looking as in a Stephen King novel. In the summer I trust the ivy is green and luscious… it is too bad that it is abandoned though as I am sure its walls have stories to tell…
Sometimes the people we choose to run municipalities may be blinded by power, forget about culture. This is the case with this tower…
