Prism Lights in the Lighthouse

While up in the Lighthouse at Saint Augustine, Florida just before you get to the very top, you finally get some light overhead. Looking up, you see these “jewel” lights which are large glass prisms that concentrate light downwards. They were commonly used in wooden ships for the same purpose. They looked like diamonds (3-4″ wide) abovehead.
