Overhanging Barn at Cades Cove

The last bike trip through Cades Cove loop road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park had lots to look at. Here we came across a large overhanging wooden barn used back in the late 1800’s.  Under the overhand they could store all kinds of gear and equipment. The roof had the typical overhanging wood shingles that were open at the ridge to let in fresh air. The structure of this barn was also made of dovetailed logs with board siding over it.
