House of William Ferris Pell at Fort Ticonderoga

At historic Fort Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain in Upstate NY there is a large old house below the Fort.  This is a house that later became a hotel by William Ferris Pell.  He bought Fort Ticonderoga and its surrounding land from NY State in 1820 and used this house as his summer home. Behind it was the “King’s Garden” and Pavillion.  The house was huge and had great views of Lake Champlain and after being a summer home for decades, became a popular tourist spot and Hotel until 1900.
