Front Entrance of Jefferson's Poplar Forest

On the backside of Thomas Jefferson‘s Poplar Forest the landscape drops off and allows  a walk in entrance to the basement. This is on the South side. On the North side you have an identical pediment above but the house is one storied in appearance. This is the side where the entrance road loops and comes in front of the house. There was construction going on at the road entrance as they had found the original stones below the dirt that made up the original entrance road. There was massive archeology going on there.
