This is the white bellbird, reputed to be the loudest bird in the world, with a call that reaches 125 decibels. Thankfully, people usually don’t get close enough to the bird to have their hearing damaged, but if they did, this level of sound can certainly do damage to the ears. Scientists still don’t know why it has such a loud call as it doesn’t seem to have a function in survival.
This is a pretty loud sound. I wonder is it appealing to the ears or not.
It probably is, as long as a person isn’t too close. The microphone that recorded this for the video clip was about 50 feet from the bird.
