White bellbird: listen to the world's loudest bird call

This is the white bellbird, reputed to be the loudest bird in the world, with a call that reaches 125 decibels. Thankfully, people usually don’t get close enough to the bird to have their hearing damaged, but if they did, this level of sound can certainly do damage to the ears. Scientists still don’t know why it has such a loud call as it doesn’t seem to have a function in survival.
