I actually copied a picture of this from a NZ scene on Butcher board and did this for my Graphic Design course.
I used masking fluid to keep the whites white, which is a liquid plastercine on paper. It just peals off.

Thanks so much Albert. I love doing this, the trouble is that masking fluid often sets into rubber after using it once. I don’t know why
