Talk about that saying “Wrong place at the wrong time.” Matt O’Hara who was in Lexington Kentucky visiting a friend to watch on television a college football game between the Kentucky Wildcats versus their Southeastern Conference (SEC) rival the Florida Gators.
Can you imagine the joy of the Wildcat fans who attended to celebrate the end of a 31 year losing streak by beating the Gators?
The Wildcat fan base who were likely drunk rioted in the Lexington area by wrecking his auto which was a 2004 white Volvo not realizing that they were being filmed on social media and that the auto belonged to Matt O’ Hara.
Matt was dismayed that the Wildcats fans who go by the nickname “The Blue Nation” would total his auto to the point that was not going to be driven again.
However Big M Superstore which is an auto dealership in Nicholasville decided to invite Matt and his mom Amy Radebaker Given to come to the dealer and say they are sorry for the bad behavior of the students who rioted the football game.
The emotions of both Amy and her son Matt were that they were thrilled that the auto salesman gave Matt and his mom a new Blue Mazda for compensation for having their Volvo destroyed by the rowdy fans.
Matt will be attending Northern Kentucky University this autumn. Matt has no ill feelings of the rowdy Wildcats who wrecked his other auto since he understands that Wildcat fans are known for their rowdy celebrations at major sporting events.
When I was living in Panama, I remember many Panamanians driving away from the New Panama Gymnasium beeping their car horns when the Panamanian basketball team beat the former Soviet Union basketball two game to one in a best of three series.
The sports arena is now named the Roberto Duran Gymnasium which seats at least 2,000 people.,
The fans are a bunch of assholes, but that’s okay because they have a reputation for being assholes? I suppose the police are also okay with them being assholes…
Sad to say that the law enforcement officers had their thumbs in their mouths again.
weren’t they caught on video?
The incident was caught on video. I am sure that there will a huge number of arrests.
One can only hope this will be the case…
Crazy at the things that are done as a result of alcohol. Glad he got a new car.
Don’t blame the booze- we don’t even know they were drunk. Everyone is just assuming that they were and writing it off to intoxication. The only things we know for sure are that they were sports fans and assholes, so why not place the blame where it belongs?
I mean Louisiana State University fans as far I know of celebrate politely when their teams win a football or baseball championship.
as is to be expected, but that doesn’t seem to be the norm anymore…
When I was living in the former Canal Zone in Panama, the saying on the Southern Command Network shows was “It is only a game.”
it is only a game, but some folks will use any excuse to get rowdy
