The Little Island (2014-05-08 10-50-40b)
The diner is located at 2600 Crawford Avenue (at Central) in Evanston, Illinois. It is surrounded by streets on three sides and just sits on a little section of land on the triangle formed by those streets. It has been in business for about 50 years.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I used Luminar 2018 for the post-processing. The photo was taken from a car stopped at a stop light so there was some extra room on the original which I cropped out. I used the RAW Develop filter to raise the contrast and clarity and lower the highlights. Then I used the Tone filter to lower the SmartTone a bit and the Brilliance/Warmth filter to increase the vividness and warmth. Next I added the Accent-AI and Polarizing filters and applied the Structure filter just to the buildingand the objects immediately around it. Lastly I converted to black and white.

I have relatives who must have come from Evanston, since they used to talk about kinfolk there, but I had no idea what it looked like. Now I have at least a small glimpse. Thank you.
I live about 1½ miles south of the Chicago/Evanston border. The two are quite different from each other. While not super-rich, Evanston is much better off economically than Chicago.
