“What Doesn’t Kill Us Makes Us Stronger”

How could I?

I ignored Virily, my joy, my followers, my creative outlet away from my blog, for too long.

I vowed I would return each Thursday (if not more often) to create, read interesting content, and network.

Yet Thursday came and went and I was MIA– missing in action.

Why break my oath to me? Why break my vow?

Easy.

My blog broke. I’ve been besieged (I don’t say besieged lightly.)

I”ve been consumed, preoccupied.

Call it what you will. My blog broke!

Just when I got my Domain Authority rating up, starting bonding with the LinkedIn crowd, started making a decent income, my blog broke.

The point of this post is not to vent although all I’ve done so far is to whine.

Where’s the violin to accompany me?

The point of this post is to tell you that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Please apologize to Kelly Clarkson for me. That was a title of her song.

Tip 1: You need to empower yourself.

There are certain actions self-hosted bloggers will take (yes, they will) that will cause their blogs to break.

For example,

  • If you don’t pay your blogging bills, you could hurt your blog.
  • If you go over your host’s allotted memory for you, you could hurt your blog.
  • If you add plugins that interfere with each other, you could hurt your blog.

What can you do to avoid the stress I’ve had this week?

1. Empower yourself. Learn. If you don’t take the time now, you’ll have to take the time when or if your blog breaks in order to know what to do to help yourself.

How can you empower yourself?

Blogging teacher Ryan Biddulph wrote an article explaining why bloggers need to be students of blogging and how to become one.

2. If all else fails, and you’re at your wits’ end, outsource the trouble.

There are plenty of Virtual Assistants on Upwork and Fiverr who can help you.

There are also virtual assistant agencies that can help you.

I wrote about one of them, Jill’s Office, in my article:

How to Save Time Blogging with a Virtual Assistant

What kind of a week did you have?

What do you do when your blog breaks?

Do you have any tips you can share? I look forward to reading your comments.

  1. Hi Tasartcraft,
What kind words. I appreciate the welcome back. Thanks for your compliment on my article. I will try to write and network at Virily at least once a week.
