You Throw Those Away?

My aunt came to visit recently. She stayed about a week. There were a lot of things she felt the need to  teach me. I learned more that could every imagine about eggshells. She let out a scream the first morning when I was about to toss them in the garbage.

One of the things she said that was useful is that the membrane in side the shell had an antibiotic quality. That has been very useful.

She made me a facial scrub that had broken egg shells in it. That went away the day she left. She put them in the plants to help them grow.

She made brownies in them so they would be fun shaped.

  1. I dry them, crush them, and give them to the chickens as well as putting them in the garden and flowerbed. I wrote an article here about the latter. Tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants are very heavy calcium users and calcium isn’t a mobile nutrient, so once the plants use it all up, they don’t get any more unless a person adds calcium to the soil. A lot of garden soil (and yard soil, for that matter) is calcium deficient.
