Very nice looking scarab. And me who wrote an egyptian hyeroglyph post and I cannot decipher the writing. Wow, I guess I am not as good as I thought I was. Ha! Ha! I know that Kephri is of course the Egyptian god of the rising sun and that he is affiliated with the scarab beetle who rolls dung in the desert which the Egyptian equaled to the forces that move the sun across the sky. But Kephri also represents creation and rebirth because the scarabs are born fully formed, thus creation and rebirth. It is a fitting gift and a fitting equivalence to the birth of Jesus whom the magis are seeking.
I thought it would be interesting to have a symbol of resurrection at the birth. Kinda like a spoiler or an easter egg…
Even if you know how to read Egyptian phonetically, it doesn’t mean you know what the word means. I have this problem in Japanese all the time…
