Bath’s Historic First Presbyterian Church

While in Bath and Hammondsport visiting the wineries and Glenn Curtiss Museum, you pass by a lovely stone church that was first established in 1808 right downtown on the square in Bath, NY. This is the First Presbyterian Church.

It originally was a white wooden structure and by 1877 was replaced by the present stone structure minus the towers.  The steeples were completed in 1894 with donations from the Davenport family but stated they did not want the tower being full of bells playing music. When Mr Davenport died, his brother commissioned The Tiffany Glass Company to redo all the glass and sanctuary in the church in his memory.

This is what attracted me as they give Tiffany tours twice a week of the interior and it was spectacular.  The church is considered a Venetian Gothic structure and made of local stone.
