The 93rd Academy Awards Oscars 2021 was on Sunday, April 25th. I usually watch these awards shows, but I missed it this year, probably because it was during this week’s Pluto Retrograde Full Super Pink Moon chaos.
Nomadland won for Best Picture. Other nominees include Promising Young Woman, The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Sound of Metal, and Trial of the Chicago 7. I have only seen Promising Young Woman, and I liked it because it was a light and entertaining thriller about a depressed young woman on a vengeful spree to get justice for her murdered college friend.
Best Director is Chloe Zhao for Nomadland. Other nominees included Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round, David Fincher’s Mink, Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari, and Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman.
Actress in Leading Role winner is Frances McDormand in Nomadland. (Frances McDormand is annoying. She looks butch, or maybe just promotes the tranny agenda). Other nominees include Carey Mulligan in Promising Young Woman, Viola Davis in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Andra Day in The United States vs Billie Holiday, and Vanessa Kirby in Pieces of a Woman.
