GERMANY - MARCH 19: Passengers fill the cabin of an Airbus A380 as it sits at a gate in Frankfurt, Germany prior to its departure on a transatlantic flight to New York, Monday, March 19, 2007. Airbus SAS's 555-seat, double-decker A380, the largest passenger plane ever built, made its U.S. debut today, with planes landing within 18 minutes of each other in New York and Los Angeles. Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Qantas Airways Ltd. are testing airports scheduled to accept the plane, which has a wingspan of 262 feet (80 meters), a fuselage 239 feet long and stands nearly 80 feet from the ground to the top of its tail. Maybe a Plus?

There has been a discussion  about changing plane cabins due to the Corona Virus.   I’ve wanted changes for years because of the cheek to jowl.

Okay, I don’t travel that much on planes, maybe one time a year, if that often, and I’ve always had great seat mates. Complete strangers I’ll never see again, but we get on well and have a pleasant time.

But I know that one day I’ll get one of those folks from hell who are spotlighted in various videos.

A friend of mine, who lives in New York City and has to travel to Orlando regularly prefers the bus.  He can get up and off when it makes the usual stops,  look at the scenery.    It is not that he’s saving money, it’s the discomfort of the plane.

I’m short so when I feel squashed imagine how a person who is tall must feel.  Further, with all the cut backs there are no meals. One gets a bag of chips and a coffee.  If hungry, they have to buy food on the plane.

In ancient days when flying was luxury I recall booking vegan meals and expecting comfort.  Today,  flying is as much luxury as taking a minivan from Kingston to Mobay.

Redesigning the interior of a plane for the comfort of passengers is long over due.  And maybe that will be the plus to the pandemic.
