Dirty soil means there is fungus or bacteria that harms the plants. In our case, the problem is the fungus that kills our strawberry plants one by one. After having so many dead plants, I had to do something so I made a research and found out that a kind of fungus may be harming my strawberry plants. But how do you kills a fungus that is not affected by herbicides?
Solarization is the process of exposing the soil under the heat of the sun. That is one way of killing the fungus. Dig the soil up to 1 foot deep and dry the soil under the sun for several hours. The heat would kill the fungus and the soil can again be used. I hope that is effective for solarizing the soil is not an easy work.

I have read that you can run the soil under boiling water and then let it dry before you use it (in case there’s not enough sunlight).
