It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – and just like the rest of your home will receive a lot of decorations, so should your kitchen. After all, you’ll be spending quite a lot of time there during the holidays as well. So, you might want to make sure that it looks the part.
That being said, how do you decorate it so that it looks just perfect? How do you bring the Christmas spirit into such a utilitarian room – without it interfering with your work in the kitchen? The answer here is to go for the cabinets – and here are a few ideas for you.
- Green Ornaments on White Cabinets
If you have white cabinets, then a good way to decorate your kitchen for Christmas would be to add in some green ornaments. Look for some nice wreath, garland, or mini Christmas trees that you can pop around your white cabinets and near the stove. Against the white, it will look like you are outside on a snowy Christmas day – but in a warm and welcoming environment.
- Santa Claus Ornaments
What better way to decorate your kitchen than bringing the big man in red in the mix? Get some little Santa figurines that you can place on your cabinet shelves – or maybe some tree ornaments shaped as Santa that you can attach to the cabinet hardware. It will certainly give your kitchen a more festive look.
- Garland All the Way
Nothing says Christmas quite like garland does – and if you want to make your cabinets pop, take some green garland and complement it with some red accents (e.g. balls or ribbons). It will give everything a more Christmassy vibe – and your kitchen will look all the more elegant.
- Stockings on Hardware
Stockings also have a way of saying that the holidays are here – so, make sure that you get some in different sizes. You may attach them to the hardware of the cabinets or you may use invisible tape to attach them to the door itself. No matter how you position them, they will surely be a good way to bring some Christmas cheer into the room – and maybe some gifts from Santa as well.
- Sprayed Snowflakes
If your cabinets are painted in other colors than white, you might want to go for sprayed snowflakes. Around the kitchen, you may buy temporary wash-out spray – the kind that people generally use to spray Christmas figures on their window. Only instead of spraying it on the windows, you will be doing so on the cabinet.
Buy some nice Christmas snowflake shapes – or if you want some diversity, go for Christmas trees or reindeer-pulled sleighs. The choice is up to you. Place the shape over the door, spray it out – and then remove the shape to see it painted on the door. Once the holidays are over, all you have to do is wash it out.
- Twinkling Lights
Twinkling lights are everywhere during Christmas and they should be on your kitchen cabinets as well. This year, one-color twinkling lights – specifically white or red ones – are the most popular. But you may go for multicolored Christmas lights as well.
It’s entirely up to you how you install them. You may place them inside the cabinets or hang the lights on top of them. If you are feeling particularly creative, you may also create a few shapes out of the lights. Christmas trees are classic – but you may also go for a snowman (particularly if you have white lights).
- Wadding and Snowman Figurines
Christmas and snow generally go hand in hand. So, if you want a white Christmas in your kitchen, you might want to take some wadding, fluff it up, and place it over your cabinets – as if it’s snow that had just settled in. Place some snowman figurines to complete the look and there you have a beautiful white Christmas.
The holidays are a time when we are all going crazy with the decorations. And with Christmas just around the corner, we want to make sure that our kitchen looks the part. Hopefully, you found our tips useful.
