Gonçalo Velho Lighthouse is located at the “Ponta do Castelo” – Maia – Santo Espírito in Santa Maria island. It was inaugurated in 1927 with a quadrangular tower of 14 meters in height in stone masonry. The lantern, red, reaches a luminosity of 54 kilometers.
A few years ago I spoke with head lighthouse Mário Silva who explained the operation of the lighthouse. Although the video is in Portuguese you can be dazzled by the wonderful images 🙂
