The advancement in technology, Asia has left the whole world behind. In 2018, 3.3 million ‘patent applications’ were submitted worldwide, nearly half of which were submitted in China. A patent is actually the copyright process of a new item or service.

Registering a new item with its creator cannot duplicate it. Nearly two-thirds of the trademark, industrial design model and patents were submitted to the countries of the Asian continent last year, according to a recent WIPO report.

This shows that the region is progressing faster than other regions of the world in technological development.  According to WIPO, the number of new patents submitted in 2018 has increased by 5.2% over the year 2017. The report also evaluated the proportion of women in the new patent registrations. It is found that China, South Korea and Spain are the only countries where between 20 and 30 percent of the total patent applications forfeited are women. On the other hand, only about ten percent of the total patent applications filed in Austria, Japan, and Germany in 2018 were women.

Last year, most of the patent applications were submitted by US citizens,Japan and Germany researchers were involved in the process after the United States.
