I read an article recently, by Alan Watts, who calls these mind-boggling truths, The Backwards Law. While these findings were not cast in stone, a very significant portion of the populace, reacted this way. Just take a moment to unscramble your mind then read the following findings.
If someone forever wants positive experiences, that is a negative experience. The idea, that the more one pursues feeling better, the less satisfied you become. This is because when you pursue something, it only reinforces the fact that you lacked it to start with. The more desperately you strive to be wealthy, the more unworthy you feel, regardless of how much money you made.
Also, as any plastic surgeon will tell you, the more desperately you want to be desired and sexy, the uglier you see yourself, this is in spite of your physical appearance. The more desperately you want to be loved and happy, the more insecure you become, regardless of those who surround you. And, the more enlightened and spiritual you want to be, the more self-centered and shallow you become in trying to get there…
