Enjoying the flood

When I was young we truly enjoyed the floods brought by the rainy season. The floodwater was clean that we played like it was a swimming pool. There was a bonus sometimes. We could catch fish that we could cook for our food. There was a time that we had caught more than 10 big mudfish and catfish. My mother was overjoyed.

Now the floodwater is as dirty as the cesspool. There is also the risk of getting sick with the leptospirosis which is the bacteria from the urine of the rodents. I wonder why the kids are still playing in the floodwater.
