Chestnut is my favorite nut

Chestnuts come here by November although sometimes it is early to be seen in the roadside by the last week of October. The chestnuts are usually cooked by the side of the road with a cart that bears the big vat with pebbles. The roasting takes more than 30 minutes of stirring so you can imagine why it is quite expensive.

Fortunately there are chestnuts even during the off season. They are the roasted chestnuts in sachet. The taste is similar to the roasted although the freshly roasted is still be best. I recall the Christmas in the olden times whenever I would eat chestnuts.
