St Edan’s Cathedral, Ferns, founded 598 AD. Ferns was once an important, thriving centre in Ireland’s southeast. Now, although it still straddles the main road south from Dublin, you drive through it in the blink of an eye. This cathedral wall suggests some of the town’s former grandeur.
