Surrender Inside the McLean House

We are exploring around Appomattox Court House National Historic Park and are looking at the famous McLean House.  This is the house where General Robert E. Lee signed the surrender of the Southern Army in the presence of General Ulysses Grant and many others and officially ended the Civil War.  This occurred in April 1865.  Here is a painting of the surrender scene followed by a photo of the room restored to its condition at the time of the surrender.
