Finger Lakes Boating Museum, Hammondsport, NY

Traveling South from the Adirondacks we are in Hammondsport, New York in the Summer. Here, touring some wineries, we found this little Finger Lakes Boating Museum up on a hill. It was made from an old winery originally belonging to Taylor Wine. These multistory stone buildings were the tasting rooms and storage vaults for the old winery and were gorgeous. Now they building is full of classic boats, canoes and historical exhibits of Hammondsport and Keuka Lake.

Here is an early Thomson Brothers wooden canoe with canvas coating and paint. It is historical so the paint was left alone even though it was full of character. I love the texture of the original green then the extremely cracked red paint on top. Note the closeups of each end.
