Once ‘writing sites’ demanded the best and brightest.
The Mods were very much like Editors who had to pass your work before it would be published.
Overtime, many sites withdrew human Mods, who had to be paid and implemented various Applications which are worse than useless.
The Apps would mark an article as ‘plagiarised’ if a quote was used, even with full attribution. It discarded work which contained dialects or slang.
However, the Owners, appreciating they got paid by Ads found Ads more important than the content.
What makes ‘writing sites’ so precious is that an Owner gets money for doing Nothing. All the work is done by the writer and the Owner takes most of the revenue earned.
