The term “better late than never” actually applies to what happen on Thursday. For the first time in forty years, women in Iran were allowed to go to a live soccer match within the country. Thousands of Iranian ladies were rejoicing as they were able to watch the Iranian national soccer team absolutely demolish Cambodia 14-0 in an Asian World Cup Qualification match at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Unfortunately, the Iranian government was forced to allow women to watch the game after being threatened by FIFA and also after an Iranian girl set herself on fire last month after being afraid that she would be arrested for attending a soccer game last year. If Iran did not allow women into this game, then FIFA would have suspended Iran and Iran would have been disqualified from the next World Cup in 2022.
I don’t even know what to comment on this event, my friend ….. finally
Finally is the right comment for what happened yesterday. I don’t see how women stay in these countries that do horrible things to them. Now, I see why so many people leave the Middle East to live in other countries around the world.
If that was the tradition … some countries have really weird laws for us … only if you were born there and raised so it should be normal for you … I really don’t know if I’m right or not
You’re right, lado. Tradition makes something that is wrong appear to actually be right. For example, slavery is a tradition that is still being practiced around the world.
