In a preliminary fight at the UFC Tampa event in the Amalie Arena, lightweight Mike Davis secured a knockout over Thomas Gifford in the waning seconds of their bout. Davis used the classic one-two to garner the KO with eighteen seconds left in the third and final round.
Davis was battering Gifford the entire fight, but the combination that gave Davis the faceplant KO was tremendous. The left jab of Davis went right through the guard of Gifford. While Gifford was still reacting to that left jab, Gifford did not see the right hook that came afterward and landed on Gifford’s left temple. That last punch put Gifford’s equilibrium into a flux, which means that he had no balance to cushion the fall with his face.
