Backwards Through the Adirondacks

This is the start of The 90-Miler Race or Adirondack Classic Canoe Race in Old Forge, New York in the Fall. Here a carbon fiber Adirondack Guideboat is setting out on the two day race to Saranac Lake. This contestant has the advantage of rowing with long powerful oars, but he has to row backwards the entire way. These Adirondack Guideboats must be rowed backwards with the rower turning his head to the front to see where they are going.
