The National League East looks to be very strong again as the Atlanta Braves look to repeat as NL East Division Champions. However, division foes have made some significant changes as they look to usurp the division title from the Braves. Let’s take a look at each team and see which order I picked for the NL East Division.
1. Washington Nationals. To offset the loss of OF Bryce Harper, the Nationals decided to bolster their starting pitching by picking up Patrick Corbin to go along with Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg. Solely based upon these three in the starting rotation gives the Nationals a pretty high probability that they will win more than 90 games this season. The lineup remains stacked with the addition of 2B Brian Dozier and the rookie call-up of Victor Robles to go along with the OF Juan Soto, the next breakout star in baseball.
2. Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies look like the most improved team on paper as they added Harper, SS Jean Segura, OF Andrew McCutchen, and C J.T. Realmuto to a lineup that is already stacked with 1B Rhys Hoskins and OF Odubel Herrera. The only issue that I see with this team is with chemistry with so many new starters and with so many starters from last season forced to the bench.
3. New York Mets. Basically for the Mets, the starting rotation needs to stay healthy because they have one of the top rotations in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1 to 5. The closer issue has been solved with Edwin Diaz becoming the new stopper. Also, the lineup will be improved with the additions of 2B Robinson Cano, 3B Jed Lowrie, and C Wilson Ramos.
4. Atlanta Braves. Adding 3B Josh Donaldson makes their lineup more potent, but that may not be enough due to the other teams bolstering their rosters. However, if Ronald Acuna, Jr. makes the expected jump this season, then he could possibly carry this team to a higher spot.
5. Miami Marlins. Check back with the Marlins in about five years.
