Morimus funereus

Morimus funereus.

The body is thin and elongated with dimensions of 1.6 – 3.8 cm. The body color is gray with four black spots on the elite.

The male has longer antennas than the body itself (as the one in the picture).

Its coloration has a protective function resembling the pattern of the bark of beech on which often is.

It is spread in Central and Southeast Europe. It meets all over Bulgaria. It inhabits deadwood in beech and oak forests.

He can not fly, but only crawls and the places where he can meet are strictly localized. These are usually places inside the forest ecosystems. He is eater and is a nocturnal animal.
