Netherlands – Clay  polders

 Polder, the Dutch name for the dried parts of the shallow waters that are transformed into fertile soil (arable land) for the production of agricultural crops. The Netherlands is a classic country of polders. The Dutch have been throughout its history, fought with the sea. Due to strong storms and appalling floods people often have to leave low-lying coastal areas, moving inland. The constant action of the high waves, currents and tides, constantly threatens the Dutch coast.
