The next time they moved, Denny was just starting second grade.
They flew to another city, Denny enjoying the plane ride.
When they landed her parents acted happy and excited, and they came to a new house. They put down their bags, went out to eat. Later, as she was in bed, her mother told her;
“Be nice, be happy, make friends, but not close friends. Not one or two friends, make lots. Don’t have any rituals, do different things, try different things. But never fasten yourself to any place, any thing or any one, for soon, we’ll be off on another adventure!”
It became an adventure.
The new town, the new house, the new school, the new people. Her mother made sure to keep the ‘adventure’ feature live.
