Life moved in a simple pattern. Daraja went to school, came home. Paul went to work, came home. On evenings or weekends, sometimes they went out, sometimes they stayed home.
Daraja graduated college, got a job. She earned more money that Paul did.
During vacations, always at the ‘last minute’ she would have to return to Nigeria.
Paul never got to go with her.
“Next Time!” she would say with her sweet smile.
Daraja never did anything to assist Paul in getting any kind of visa to travel to Nigeria.
Paul was too ignorant to learn what documents were needed during the first two years of marriage.
Then, as his Third empty Christmas arrived, he did his research.
