And Comes the Fourth Generation – 139

Marla, one of the quieter tenants had an issue with a light switch.  She went to the Matron’s House, knocked, no answer.  She went around front, saw that the car was gone.

Assuming Ann South, the Matron, had popped out for groceries, went back to her room.

Two hours later, she came out, but Ann South was not there.

Assuming that she’d be home by night, Marla was moving to the Matron’s house when she saw the gate open and Ann South drive out.

She assumed she’d ‘just missed’ her.

The next morning when Marla tried to see the Matron, she was out again.

Marla called the office to complain.
