For most of us, being at home during the last few weeks or months has motivated us to take on projects around the house. And for some of us, it’s been motivating to redecorate or update the style of our interior decor. After all, your taste in decor changes over the years alongside your other interests.
From woodworking to decorating, cooking to cleaning, pet care, and relationship care… there’s nothing you can’t find on Pinterest. It’s safe to say Pinterest is home to DIY specialists, which is why Joybird turned to Pinterest data in order to determine the most popular styles of interior decor.
Even though the data on Pinterest Trends has isn’t completely comprehensive, knowing what is being searched on the platform can tell you a lot about what’s popular right now. Whether you want your home to have a new look or you’re just browsing for inspiration, the search data from Pinterest shows the top ten different types of interior design styles based on searches over the last six months.
Take a look at the top ten most popular design styles below!
Western is apparently the most popular interior design style, according to people who spend a bunch of time on Pinterest. Wood, rock, metal, and leather are all parts of western interior design, and they’ve all made a comeback in recent months.
Modern comes close behind, which makes sense. If this is a style you’re interested in, it’s likely you’ll have elements of modern design at home. Some of these elements include earthy materials and colors, aspects of nature, and simpler patterns with neutral colors.
As if Marie Kondo infiltrated Pinterest, not just our daily lives, the Minimalist style is also trending. Minimalist interior decor adds in only that which is necessary, leaving lots of open space. Clean out your clutter to make room for joy (or so KonMari says).
On the other hand, it’s also kind of interesting to see which of the interior design styles have fallen out of popularity, like Art Deco and Coastal Design. Everyone has different tastes, so it’s interesting to see how they compare to one another.
