Back in elementary school, I think, 6th grade, I had received a cookbook for kids, Peanuts Lunch Bag Cook Book, from a friend for Xmas. I think she gave everyone in class one. I have never used any of the recipes because I thought they were gross, even back then when I was a kid. So, I have decided to make all the recipes in this book, either vegetarian or vegan, in which I am sure will be an improvement. There are 90 recipes in this book.
Recipe #1–Allstar White Bread
Ingredients include:
- 1 package of dry yeast
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons of vegan butter.
- 2 teaspoons of salt or sea salt or himalayan salt.
- 6 1/2 cups of white flour or your choice of flour.
Place dry yeast in 1/4 cup of water water, and stir until it dissolves. Place 1 cup of water and butter in a large bowl. Add salt. Mix well. Add yeast mixture. Add flour slowly and stir constantly. Knead dough for 10 minutes. Then, set aside in a greased bowl, in a warm place. Turn dough to make sure all sides are greased from the bowl. Cover bowl with a damp cloth. Let it rise for about 1 1/2 hours, making sure its size doubles. Punch and knead for several minutes. Make 3 loaves and place on greased pan. Let it to rise until its sized doubles. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes.
