During my birthday weekend, I went to two local malls to browse around, checking out various window displays for ideas. I noticed many monochromatic outfits, whether solid or print. There were lots of utilitarian-style clothes and accessories on the mannequins, as well. The colors vary from pale neutrals and pastels to bold colors and prints.
I also noticed a sudden interest in incorporating accessories into a fashionable outfit. It is all about attention to detail, and choosing particular shoes, purse, hat, belt, scarf, and jewelry as statement pieces. But it is also important to create a balance so not to overdo it.
Consider the 3-color rule, which is using two colors and an accent color, making sure all three colors work well together. Then, layering on few statement pieces, such as a belt, scarf, decorative pin, and earrings. And, maybe a cool hat.
I added a couple of recent snapshots.
The last snapshot looks like a surreal abstract photo art. I notice some mondrian blocks and mannequins, as well as people, mall parking lot, and a little bit of the inside of Nordstrom department store.
