Senator McCain was a pilot in the US Navy. His picture was taken before his arrest in Vietnam in 1967. Senator McCain was in prison for five years in Vietnam.

After release from Vietnam, John McCain is reporting the conditions passed in WIF during an interview on April 24, 1973. John McCain was the Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy at that time.
