Integrity

In 1983, the Jamaica Labour Party called ‘snap’ elections.   The People’s National Party decided not to contest.   This meant that all seats in the Parliament of Jamaica would be held by the JLP.

The public, even those who supported the JLP were terrorised by this ‘One Party Parliament’.

During the next years, the public turned against the JLP and when elections were finally called, the PNP won.  It won by a landslide.

The PNP won the election in 1989, in 1993, in 1997 and in 2002 .

Finally, in 2007, when the JLP changed its leader, (as did the PNP) that it won 32 of  the 60 seats, leaving the PNP with a strong minority.

During the previous period, 1962 until 1980, the Government fluctuated.  The JLP won in 62 and 67, the PNP won in 1972 and 1976.

When Edward Seaga, who had won the 1980 election,  called the snap election, the JLP went on to lose four consecutive  elections.

This is because the public was out raged by the One Party Parliament.

In 2007, the JLP gained power under a new leader, Bruce Golding.

In 2010 there was a situation.

The facts would take up another article, but, behind closed doors, the Jamaica Labour Party decided that Bruce Golding, the Prime Minister would step down, and Andrew Holness would take over.

<a href="http://www.loopjamaica.com/content/holness-signals-tough-stance-crime-coming-skips-details-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Source</a>

This was done because the JLP recognised the breaches Golding had committed, the lies he had told, and to protect the Party, Bruce Golding resigned and left politics.

This is because members of the JLP had integrity.

This is to expose the fact that a Third World Country like Jamaica has higher standards than the Great United States of America.
